Antigone Theatre Production

Antigone is a famous ancient Greek tragedy written by Sophocles. The play is set in the aftermath of a civil war in Thebes, and it follows the story of Antigone, the daughter of Oedipus. After the war, Antigone’s brothers, Eteocles and Polynices, kill each other in battle. Creon, the new king of Thebes, decrees that Eteocles will be honored with a proper burial, but Polynices will be left unburied as punishment for his betrayal. Antigone defies this decree and buries her brother Polynices, leading to a tragic chain of events. The play explores themes of moral duty, family loyalty, and the conflict between divine law and human law.
